THE LOWDOWN

Unified bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (20-0, 17 KO) extended his 100% winning record as a professional with a 7th round stoppage victory against Australia’s Jason Moloney in October of last year and he is now is aiming to record his 21st successive victory against Michael Dasmarinas. Inoue has a very eye-catching KO ratio and he will be looking to get the job done early against the challenger.

Michael Dasmarinas (30-2-1, 20 KO) is without doubt facing the biggest test of his career so far when he takes on Naoya Inoue in Las Vegas. The Filipino fighter has not really faced any true top-level fighters since he turned pro and he is now up against one of the very best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet. Dasmarinas last fought all the way back in October 2019 so he has had a considerable wait for a return to the ring.

THE PREDICTION

Naoya ‘Monster’ Inoue has proven to be a truly elite fighter over the last few years and he has certainly earned a reputation as a power-puncher who is capable of ending fights quickly. The Japanese star looks well set to do so again on this occasion against Michael Dasmarinas who has not shown much in his career to suggest that he will be able to trouble the world champion. Expect Inoue to put his opponent under real pressure from the first bell, Dasmarinas might hang on in there for a while but he is unlikely to last out until the second half of the fight.
