THE LOWDOWN
Lawrence Okolie (15-0, 12 KO) has already claimed the British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight titles during his short career and he is now looking to become a world champion for the first time by defeating Krzysztof Glowacki for the vacant WBO cruiserweight belt. The Londoner was last in action in December 2020 when he stopped Nikodem Jezewski before the end of the second round - that was Okolie’s 12 win via KO/TKO in just 15 fights.
Krzysztof Glowacki (31-2, 19 KO) is aiming to win the WBO cruiserweight belt for the third time in his career having held the title in 2015-16 and 2018-19. The experienced Polish fighter has had a long wait to return to action as his last contest was all the way back in June 2019 when he was stopped in just three rounds by Mairis Briedis. The only other defeat in Glowacki’s career was in 2016 against Ukrainian star Oleksandr Usyk.
THE PREDICTION
Lawrence Okolie had been tipped to rise to the top since he turned professional and the British boxer now has the opportunity to deliver, he will become a world champion in his 16th fight, if he can defeat Krzysztof Glowacki in London on Saturday night. His Polish opponent has a vast amount of experience and is certainly the toughest foe that Okolie has fought in the pro ranks, but the long lay-off that Glowacki has had since he suffered a devasting loss against Mairis Briedis in June 2019 could be a key factor in the outcome of this bout. Okolie is tipped take control of this fight in the later rounds and a second-half stoppage victory for the Londoner is the prediction.
