THE LOWDOWN

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. will step back into the ring for an exhibition bout, almost 16 years since his last appearance of a long, glittering career. The Mexican fought on 115 occasions, winning a mesmeric 107 of those and he highlighted his power in style by recording 85 successes by KO. However, with such a long time out of the ring and now at the tender age of 58, he will have to roll back the years in a big way.

Hector Camacho Jr. has been active a lot more recently and he too boasted a superb record with 59 wins and seven losses during his career. The Puerto Rican won his final fight back in 2019 and while his career did not hit the heights of his rival, younger legs could prove to be pivotal in this bout for the 42-year-old Camacho Jr.

THE PREDICTION

Julio Ceser Chavez Sr. undoubtedly had the better career than Hector Camacho Jr. but that may not count for a great deal in this exhibition. The Mexican has been a long time retired and is only just the right side of 60 which places serious doubt over his ability to come out on top here. This would have been a big step up in class for Camacho Jr. had the pair met when in their respective primes and while he is the younger man by 16 years, the home crowd coupled with his superior boxing nous could help Chavez Sr. claim the win.
