THE LOWDOWN

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will take part in his 60th professional bout as he returns to the ring in this exhibition with MMA legend Anderson Silva. The Mexican has only lost five of those fights and has obvious class as a former middleweight world champion. It is a long time since he was in his prime having debuted back in 2003 but he has still remained active in recent years and will be confident of success.

Silva is well-known for his exploits in the UFC with him being a former middleweight champion and he is regarded as one of the best of all-time. The 46-year-old Brazilian is no stranger to a boxing ring either having twice fought when he was younger, although only one of those bouts ended in success. He has the punching power to cause some issues while he also has a significant reach advantage but facing an impressive opponent 11 years his junior could be an issue.

THE PREDICTION

On paper, there is only one winner of this bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. boasting a superb record but Anderson Silva will not be turning up to simply make up the numbers. His MMA record is impressive (34-11) but that only tells half the story with one of the all-time greats winning 16 straight bouts at one point in his career, defending his title on ten occasions. He will look to call on that experience in the octagon for this exhibition with a very tough opponent and while he may fall short in his bid for a win, his toughness should ensure that the bout at least goes the distance.
