THE LOWDOWN
JEAN PASCAL
- After suffering the sixth loss of his career which came against Dmitry Bivol for the light heavyweight title, Pascal bounced back with a shock win and technical decision against Marcus Browne to hand him his first loss.
- This was a technical decision as the fight ended prematurely because Browne was unable to continue after a nasty cut caused by a clash of heads. Browne was winning the fight, but Pascal landed three big knockdowns to sway the judges.
- Pascal became the interim WBA and WBC silver light heavyweight champion but the interim title got elevated to the regular WBA champion and he will defend both new titles against Jack.
BADOU JACK
- Jack is also coming off a tough fight with Browne but he fell on the wrong side of a unanimous decision for the vacant WBC silver title which was nearly a year ago.
- In his fight with Browne, Jack also suffered a clash of heads. This caused a cut between his eyes on the forehead which Browne continued to open up. By the end of the fight, it was a a large gash which has left a significant scar.
- Jack only has two losses on his record (Browne and Derek Edwards in 2014). He is a two-time champion as the former WBC super middleweight and WBA light heavyweight title holders.
THE PREDICTION
Jack is coming off a loss to Browne and Pascal a win, although Pascal was losing the fight until landing three knock downs before the premature stoppage. Jack is rejuvenated after nearly a year out and has the technique to avoid Pascal's bombs and the endurance to get more rounds in the bank but do not count out a knockout.
