THE LOWDOWN

Former two-time middleweight world champion Daniel Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs) is making his first appearance in the ring since his victory against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in December 2019. That was Jacobs’ debut bout at super middleweight after he made the decision to move up in weight following his loss on points against Canelo Alvarez in May 2019. The Miracle Man is now hoping to use this bout as a stepping stone to a world title shot in the 168lb division.

Gabriel Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KOs, one no-contest) is also in action for the first time since December 2019 when he defeated Humberto Ochoa on the undercard of the Jacobs vs Chavez Jr. fight. It was mainly due to his altercation with Jacobs at the weigh-in and the consequent trash talking between the pair that Rosado has earned this opportunity. Rosado does not lack experience, but he has claimed just four wins in the last eight years and that record does not suggest that he will have success against a world-class fighter such as Jacobs.

THE PREDICTION

There has been plenty of trash talking between the pair over the last year but it seems that Rosado will struggle to match up to his words as he is likely to come-off second best against his top-class opponent. Daniel Jacobs has an excellent knockout ratio in his career with 30 of his 36 wins coming by way of KO/TKO, his last stoppage victory came all the way back in 2016 though and this is something that he will look to put right in this fight. Expect Rosado to battle gamely early on but the power of Jacobs will eventually take its toll and the former two-time middleweight world champion is tipped to stop Rosado in the second half of the bout.

Prediction: Jacobs to win in rounds 7-12
