THE LOWDOWN

There has always been a lot of hype and spotlight surrounding Conor Benn (17-0, 11 KO) due to his famous father – former world champion Nigel Benn – and although he has complied an unbeaten record after 17 professional fights, it is fair to say that he has yet to be tested against fighters who have been active at the elite level. This contest pits Benn against a very experienced boxer who has plenty of experience against top class fighters so it will be his biggest test to date.

Samuel Vargas (31-6-2, 14 KO) has shared the with ring with fighters such as Errol Spence Jr, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan, Luis Collazo and Vergil Ortiz Jr down the years - it is worth noting though that he lost each one of those bouts. The Colombian born boxer was last in action in July 2020 when he was stopped by rising star Vergil Ortiz Jr and he comes into this contest with just two wins from his last six fights.

THE PREDICTION

Conor Benn is heavily favoured by the oddsmakers to win this bout against the experienced Colombian Samuel Vargas. A win for the British boxer is not a complete formality though and one feels that he will have to dig deep to see off an opponent who will relish his role as the underdog. It should be noted that Benn has won by stoppage just three times in his last seven contests so there may be some value in opting for a win via the judges’ scorecards if you are having bet on Benn to prevail.

Prediction: Conor Benn to win on points
