THE TEAM NEWS

ADELAIDE CROWS

  • Adelaide Crows’ winless start to the 2020 AFL campaign continued as they were defeated by St. Kilda on Monday and they will need to make major improvements if they are to avoid collecting the wooden spoon.
  • The Crows made a slow start and were punished for it as they failed to really get anywhere near the Saints with the final score ending at 55-78 in another disappointing outing for the Adelaide outfit.
  • Two changes have been made to the side that featured for the Crows on Monday with Jake Kelly dropped while Ned McHenry is managed with Elliott Himmelberg and Lachlan Murphy handed spots in the line-up.

ESSENDON

  • Essendon were unable to make it three wins in a row as they suffered a heavy loss to Western Bulldogs last week and they will be eager to get back to winning ways in their bid to improve to 5-2.
  • The Bombers trailed by just 13 points at the half but they produced a terrible start to the second half as that deficit was extended to 30 points which left them with far too much work to do.
  • To compound the Bombers’ disappointing display, they have lost Cale Hooker and Orazio Fantasia to injury while Andrew Phillips is dropped so Aaron Francis, Martin Gleeson and Tom Bellchambers come into the side.

THE PREDICTION

Adelaide Crows have yet to get off the mark in 2020 and they face another difficult assignment as they host 4-2 Essendon. The Crows have failed to impress at all this season and they could be facing a 0-8 start with the Bombers set to give them a stern examination. The visitors were disappointing last week but they can respond here and condemn the hosts to yet another loss to make it three wins in a row for Essendon against the Crows.
